Commodity trading with Russia
Oil and gas fuel Russia’s war in Ukraine. More than a third of Russia’s state revenues come from these sales. Switzerland is the most important trading hub for these commodities. In fact, 80% of the trade in Russian commodities takes place in Switzerland, the world’s largest oil trading hub. To prevent the Russian President from continuing to pocket valuable foreign currency via Switzerland, trade in Russian oil, petroleum products and gas needs to be sanctioned immediately.

As the largest commodity trading hub in the world, Switzerland is once again in the spotlight. In view of the war in Ukraine, we call on the Federal Council, Parliament, and commodity traders to live up to their responsibilities immediately.
